Dear Microsoft, IE7 sucks

March 20, 2007

Dear Microsoft,

Please, just stop making software altogether. Stick to games or something where you're not directly involving me, as a web developer, in your madness. You've proven again and again that you are not very good at making software. How many years did you spend developing this new Vista OS? How many billions of dollars were spent? This IE7 monstrosity is what you call new and improved? That's truly sad.

Thanks for nothing.

Sounds a bit like fan-boy-ism for Firefox, which is actually not a very good browser once facts become involved.

It's a buncha myths. Firefox is what is destroying the general public at large's ability to become web developers with its stone age requirements.

Also, games are software.

IE7 does suck!

I am at a loss as to why MS thinks IE7 is an improvement over IE6. Imagine the time and money spent on such a loser product, the mind is boggled. I recall the last loser product from MS, The "Office Assistant" , I can only feel sorry for the developer of OA, the first thing or in fact the only thing that people choose not to install as part of office is your little piece of code. The same has happened with IE7, perhaps it was the same lame developer? I have never in 10 years had any client ask me to uninstall IE or suggest an alternative browser. But along comes IE7 and wham, MS have given me so much extra work since releasing IE7 I can hardly keep up with the demand to roll back to IE6 and/or install FF.

Thanks for increasing my income Bill.

IE7 Rocks!

Nice post! IE7 sucks almost as bad as IE6. We developers must continue to code toward each and every version of IE, which is a complete pain in the ass, but yea, in part gives us job security. Surprisingly, I don't think Windows Vista is too bad...

IE7 Sucks less than IE6 But

once again development is battered with more inconsitencies. Firefox mythman you are full of it. Stabilty wise, rendering speed, standards complicance, price, footprint .. Firefox is the best of the bunch

I use firefox

I use firefox because when I travel and I used the free wi-fi given by hotels or airport, with IE (5,6,7) I got plenty of trojan, cookies, unexpected file and I have to use 3 or 4 different virus scan to clean stuff.

With firefox I have none. Firefox may limit web development but it seems safer against hackers.

I actually like Windows vista but it contains about 300,000 files and dll and libraries. I do not believe a system requires so much files to run. It is too messy.

What do you think?

Wheres the Data (facts)

These comments remind me of the heated arguments from the 70's (working on the farm) about which truck was better (Ford or Chevy). Lots of opinions were thrown around, but never any data to back up the claims.

If a browser is bad, provide the data that proves it. This would include live examples and independent research (not opinions).

OPERA

Opera all the wayy! IE sucked then and now. It wasn't a match even to Netscape in the days of the yonder...and I do not think it will get any better

Firefox does not limit anything

Firefox does not limit anything, please stop spreading misinformation.

Ever heard of Firebug, the defacto web 2.0 developer's plugin? Or the very handy web developer's toolbar.

Are you even a web developer? Didn't think so.

Facts.

You're right, I have no facts, mostly because IE doesn't run on any of the operating systems I use, not Linux or Mac OS X, or FreeBSD. So yeah I'm not an authority on IE7, but I don't have to be since there's over a 250K results for IE sucks on Google. Seems like a consensus to me.
