Gentoo Linux stuff

January 19, 2007

I now have three Gentoo servers up and running. I have distcc running on the first two so this third one's KDE compile is coming up pretty quick. There's so many cool options for Gentoo now. My /etc/make.conf files are a constant evolution as I run through more how-tos and stuff on the 'net.

I name my servers after the planets. I haven't ever had more than nine servers going at once so it's been working pretty swell up to now. My Macbook Pro is named neptune. My main desktop pc is named mars. It's the last Gentoo box I just brought online. It used to run Ubuntu. I watch TV on mars. Heh.. that sounded strange. What I meant to say is mars has a TV card in it. It's a pretty ancient card, like 6 or 7 years old. After all these years it still runs great in a Linux box. I use TVTime for my TV viewing application.
