Xgl on Suse 10.1

June 4, 2006

I've always been a big fan of Suse Linux. Of all the RPM-based distros I've tried it seems to be the most sane. But seriously I think Suse Linux has good gui tools to manage the overall OS. I'm by no means scared of the command line but it helps for things to just work sometimes.

Recently the Xgl stuff has become increasingly popular so I gave it a whirl. It's amazing how lightweight the window movements are. I have it running on a 1.6Ghz Athlon machine with a 128MB Nividia card and a gig of ram. Very pleasant on the eyes.
